A comprehensive evaluation with audiology is part of a series of diagnostic tests that are completed when you begin therapy with Fyzical Balance Centers. Your ears serve dual functions of hearing and balance. The hearing and balance systems in the inner ear are connected and share the same fluid and cranial nerve. When the inner ear's balance system is affected, it is very important that we evaluate whether or not the ear's hearing system has been affected as well. If one ear's hearing has been affected, but not the other, the ability to localize where sounds are coming from becomes difficult. Inability to localize or inaccurate localizations could have an effect on balance. A comprehensive evaluation with audiology includes more than just raising your hand when you hear beeps. Our audiological evaluation includes pure tone air and bone conduction audiometry, word recognition abilities, tympanometry (middle ear compliance testing) and acoustic reflex testing.
In addition to improving your balance, if hearing aids are needed Fyzical works directly with top hearing aid manufacturers to ensure you receive the highest quality products and services. For more information, contact us at (402) 763-1888.
